About

Suzanne Dey was born June 3, 1954 and raised in Springfield, Illinois. She moved to San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury district in the 1970s to pursue a career as a baker and pastry chef at a variety of Bay Area establishments from down-home to high-end. She was also an accomplished cook, a skilled gardener, and an avid music fan. But she always reserved her greatest creative efforts for the fabric arts, especially her quilting, which she pursued with a unique passion for thirty years. Her quilts reveal an artist of singular vision and creative intellect, pursuing a course of inquiry through color and design, constantly adapting and expanding her technical knowledge toward an ever more sophisticated approach to visual structure and expressive use of materials.

Sue Dey died May 4, 2019 at her home in Marin County, California.
